So I am contemplating on buying live rock from a store and taking the rock I have in my tank out. The rock I have is man made and looked cool at the beginning but now with the corals I’m planning on getting it won’t really work out how I was hoping. Would it be a bad idea to get live rock from an online store like BRS and change out my rock with the newly purchased live rock? Especially since I have a couple zoas, frog spawn, and a clown in the tank right now.

Replacing the rock may destabilize the tank by stirring up sand. Is the rock you are adding actual live rock because I didn't know BRS did that.
I haven’t ordered any live rock yet and I just threw BRS out there because that’s the first website that came to mind.

You need to buy actual live rock, as you will be removing most of your bacteria population.

BRS only sells dry rock. KP aquatics(I think), @liverock over at Tampa bay Saltwater, and a couple others sell actual live rock that is shipped to you in water preserving all the life on the rock.

I say take the man made rock out and put in live rock. You get cool hitchhikers and hood biodiversity. Also, live rock doesn’t come with all the cool holes and shapes that man made rock does

I’ll be sure to check that website out! Thank you
