Hi, I am about ready to pull the trigger on a new 96x30x25 tank. Can someone explain the benefits of the Ghost style overflow from Reef Savvy/Synergy vs the internal overflow please? I know there is a shift to these new style overflows, but I don't want to give up 3-4 inches (minimum) in the back of the tank to the wall. Has anyone had issues with leaks or maintenance? Please EDUCATE ME. Thank you.

IMO
If that tank has two internal 1.5" bulkheads, you would be fine with flow. I prefer them to the Synergy or Ghost because they are contained within the overflow box and if there is teeth at the top you could actually just circulate the tank and be fine if the bulkhead failed(Get SCH 80 bulkheads with slip fittings and they really don't fail). You will need less pump with this type of overflow and could get away with 1600-2000 gph and spend your money on good powerheads for flow within the tank.
