As the title says...I need to purchase an overflow for an upgrade, which will be a new 180 gal DT plumbed into a system with a 75 gal DT which will share the same sump, The 75 gal is my currently running reef ready, I only need the overflow for the 180. These are the contenders.

Thoughtful, informative experiences are hugely appreciated.

TIA,

Cindy

I have a shadow on my 120g and its great. I only use the U tube on the secondary and keep my primary very short. It was tricky to get it tuned in perfectly so it wasn't noisy but works great.

I see very little difference between the ghost-style overflows frankly. I think the key is to choose one that is of appropriate size for your tank. I went with a 36" unit for my 96" long tank. A friend of mine has the H2overflows and I don't like them. An inferior design in my opinion.

What do you find inferior about the H2O?

First of all I think they are an aesthetic 'foul'. Uuuuuuuugly ........ :D. Secondly, they just don't appear to surface skim as well as a more traditional linear skim box. Third, they aren't designed to handle clogging well.
