Today I purchased a par38 dimmable 12 led (6 white 6 blue) from led wholesalers. My plans for this bulb is for my fish q.t. The bulb Comes with a dimming remote to control the white and blue separately. This way I can start low and work up the light level for the stress of the fish. Has anyone had any experience with these bulbs I figured for the price of $68 shipped It was worth the gamble. Thanks Thom

No experience with a par 38 bulb but for a fish quarantine you don't need much for light. A normal output flourescent fixture would be fine

Agreed. I have a single CFL above my 40B QT tank and its been fine. It lights it up enough to see them and thats really all you need.

I agree however I don't want to place that over my frag or display and cause damage I'd rather use it over my q.t. And a frag or two and monitor the progress.

The first reef tank i had a 65 gallon caught fire and i lost most of my livestock it had 250w mh and 4 54w t5s over the top of it. Now i said that to say this i was able to save a few frags from the tank even after the tank had busted and all the water was gone and my room was filled with smoke. Its quite amazing actually how resilient some corals can be. I moved these few frags into a 14 gal under a par 38 bulb with no dimmer and every frag lived and are still doing great till this day. They had no problem acclimating to the bulb and are still being grown under 3w leds till this day. If the bulb is dimmable then you should deff have no problem acclimating corals too it if you would like to put it over your frag tank.
