Hello,

My niece will not stop begging for me to get some sort of pink fish for my aquarium. Problem is that i only have a 5 gallon tank. Are there any types of "pink" fish that would work for me? Thanks in advance, my niece will be so happy if I get a pink fish for her.

Fire fish. Check out the different varieties.

They stay small but 5 gallons is really pushing it.

I am guessing we're talking a pretty bubble gum pink?

Maybe some type wrasse for a 55 gallon tank?

Anthias are amazing but you really want a 100 gallon tank and the patience to feed them 3 or 4 times a day.

Maybe sexy shrimp or a camel shrimp that isn't reef safe or some type of Peppermint shrimp which is really just a dull reddish color.

A yasha goby doesn't really qualify but it would fit in the 5 gallon tanks.

Check out the nano fish section on liveaquaria.com

Im not sure 5 gallons is suitable for most fish even a firefish, which isn't pink. If you have room for a 10 gallon tank that opens up alot more possibilities. I can't think of many pink fish off the top of my head but look at a purple dottyback. There pretty and pinkish! Purple. Good luck

5 gallons IMHO is really only suited for the smallest gobies (ie Clown, Hi-Fin) and one or two species of the smallest blennies. Honestly I can't even think of a variety of pink Glofish that would do well long term in a 5 gallon tank.

As mentioned a Purple Firefish would probably be the closest thing to a pink colored fish that could fit in a small tank and it really should be 10 gallons or larger. Also with a 5 gallon it would need to be your only fish.

If you could bump it up to 10-15 gallons a Pink Streaked Wrasse would definitely fit the bill.

My helfrichi firefish looks pink and lavender under bright white lighting. They are smaller than other firefish so that would work well I think. They can be shy at first but eventually come out all the time. Make sure you have a lid...they jump.

They are a bit expensive but I see them go on supersale for around 60 on Live Aquaria now and again.

Pic for reference..
