@tsm corals is local to me and I feel they are the ABSOLUTE BEST STORE anywhere for fish. Everything goes through a 30 day+ QT with meds before being moved to the sales Side. Along with that, all the fish are fully conditioned and eating prepared foods right away, even finicky fish such as my Leopard Wrasse.Thank you for all these replies its nice. And as i am reading everyones advice it looks like setting uo my own qt is my option when it comes to corals. I was hoping to buy and add coral to my stale tank to brighten it up faster but patience will have to be gained rn. And what are thoughts on tsmcorals?
Literally every fish I own has come from TSM or been QTed by them, and I will not ever buy a fish from anyone else as long as they are in business, that’s how great they are. I won’t even get into customer service, because it’s just as top notch, and nothing else needs saying.
All that said, I don’t believe that they QT/Isolate their corals in the same manor. I know they get in really nice shipments direct from Aussy And INDO but can’t speak to how long between new shipments/additions or weather or not they have any fish in the systems. But now that I’m thinking about I don’t believe they do have fish in with the corals, but I could be mistaken.
Maybe they can chime in about their Coral QT Practices? They are very open about their fish QT so have no reason to believe they wouldn’t let you know.
We have a Coral QT tank here at home that stays fishless just to be safe.
As long as the QT is fishless, you can add new corals to the tank, at any time and it only effects how long that coral stays in the tank.
Example: “Coral A” is in your QT tank for 45 days already and you buy a new frag from a local swap. “Coral B” needs to stay for a full 76 days but “Coral A” still only has another 31 days left; it’s clock does not restart. Once “Coral A”s time is done, rinse it in fresh SW before adding to your main DT and youre
reason being is that if there is dormant parasite, it will release after a max of 72 days and then has another 4 days to die since there’s no host and can not reattach to a substrate again.
