I live just outside of Peoria Il. basically central of the state. I am heading to right around Columbus Ohio tomorrow. Was wondering if anyone knew of any good lfs along the route? Would be straight through Indiana

I don't mind a short detour, but nothing major.

Only thing in Indiana on your route would be Inland Aquatics in Terra Haute. Has a pretty big warehouse full of livestock and the whole place is ran on algae turf scrubbers. In Dayton I would check out Gerber's Tropical Fish Warehouse.

@michellejy

Thanks for telling me about rivers to reef! Made it there and the store is as good as you @f.lloyd.taylor say it is! Talked to the owner for a bit, had a few questions, he answered them all, and even walked away with a fish! Something I had been looking for for a while now, he had!

It's a cool little store isn't it? Out of the way in a corner (sort of) but super cool. The owner would order anything I asked him for; actually, it was one day that I "wished" that he had some kind of coral, can't remember what now, but anyway, next time I went in (used to go at lunch just to chat with the owner and make my work day more relaxing), he had whatever it was I was wishing for. Couldn't believe it and asked him how he remembered and acquired it... He told me that he wrote it down and ordered it from a vendor next day pickup at the airport. The guy is super cool, I really hope that store makes it...

I'm really glad that your experience was as good as we thought it would be!!!! Yippee for the new fish too! Now it has a good home with @rayn !

He had a nice selection there of both fish and coral. Had a black edge moray that was cool too.

I also liked that he had a decent sills room of dry goods and equipment. I could have literally bought a tank and everything needed in one swoop there.

I love that they really care about what they sell and doing the right thing for both the livestock AND their customers. They are really knowledgeable and make an effort to have a lot of options from the basics to really unique. I'm glad your experience was good, and I want to see what you got!

I got the one sitting on the rock. Now that I'm home I wish I had gotten the pair.
