Hey guys, looking to pick everyone’s brains.

I’ve got a 350 sps build soon to be started. The dimensions are 90x36x24 tall. For lighting I have 3 20x20” Hamilton pendants with 400w radium halides.

First question, would you guys recommend t5’s or leds as supplemental light, or do both?

Next question: flow? Keeping in mind this tank is 7.5’ long and a peninsula.. gyres or mp60’s or both? I currently have 2 maxspect 250 gyres to work with, but I know I need more. Flow is definitely my biggest concern on this tank

I’m more than open to suggestions and would greatly appreciate it! The tank comes in in 2 weeks and trying to wrap up the last bit of equipment before

If Halides are the main light source, I would say T5s to get the best growth an color. Blue plus and actinic bulbs. Honestly, its hard because ReefBrite led XHO Actinic strips offer something special to your viewing. Hard to beat.
Flow for a long and wide tank like that would def be 2 MP 60’s but Gyres would not be on my list.
The other flow source with the MP60s would be 2-3 Tunze Turbelle 6255’s. These move alot of water a very long distance. Great pumps. The length the water moves with my Tunze pumps is much greater thank my mp 40s. My 6105 moves water easily 6feet and strong and pushes my mp40 back.

Why do you not like the gyres?

Because the halides will be centered over the tank, would you recommend running 1
Or 2 t5’s on the sides of the halides? I was thinking to run 2 on either side and reallllly considering 2 sb atinic strips on both sides as well. It’s a ton of light but want to be sure to cover all of my bases and have options in viewing plus having the best growth possible

Its not that I dont like them. I just like Tunze and Eco tech pumps better.
For t5s, 2 on each side would be great.

Cool, going to order 36” and 48” retrofit kits so I can cover 7 of the 7.5’ length. Here’s another question.. how how would you guys recommend mounting the 400w halides over the tank?

For the halides, I’m not worried about mounting them too high in an attempt to get better coverage. Being in 20x20” fixtures, the spread should be fine. My bigger concern is not mounting too low and having heat exchange issues with the water
