Good morning everyone! Hope you're all doing well.
So just looking for a little advice and recommendations. I have a 29 gallon standard about 3 months old. Have been battling nitrates lately. (As I've heard is common) also have an issue with what I think is cyano i picked up off a gsp frag I had got from my lfs. (Reddish purple slime looking stuff on sand bed)
One question I had that I'm worried about is if I have to high of a bio load? Current stock is 2 all Domino clowns, coral beauty, flasher wrasse, lm blenny, yellow watchman/pistol shrimp pair. I also have small bta, royal urchin and some various soft corals. Mostly zoas.
To battle this I have been doing about 30% wc weekly, stir up sand real well before I siphon. I have an ac hob with pellets, carbon, phosban(which I got because someone told me it'd help get rid of cyano) it doesn't get real bad. Two main patches on sand bed in front part of tank. I blow detritus off, and have cut back on feeding. I alternate between each marine flake and spot feeding frozen mysis shrimp.
I have thought about turning my ac70 into hob chaeto fuge. But did not know if suck a small fuge would make a real difference.
So what would you guys suggest to a beginnner? Just want to be proactive instead of reactive.
