I have been battling this Algea outbreak for about 2 months now and running out of ideas besides breaking out the chemicals. My tank is 120 gallons and 1.5 years old. I have been doing weekly 10% water changes which seems only to keep it at bay. I have also been dosing hydrogen peroxide at 12mL/twice daily which seems to have weekend it but once more no real success(been doing for 2 weeks). My current parameters as of today are:
Salt-35
Alk-8
Phosphates- 0.02
Nitrates- 2
pH- 8
Magnesium-1400
Calcium- 400
I switched over to Zeovit about 4 months ago when I had some cyano and it wiped out chateo in my fuge. Even before that my parameters have always stayed pretty regular at what is listed. If my parameters went out of wack at least I would have something to point too. I have been trying to stay the course with water changes I. Hopes of eliminating whatever is the source but no luck. So thought I would see what more experienced reefers had to offer.
Thanks

Well you can always get your hands dirty and would honestly be the first step I would do seeing you are already doing water changes. Basically get you a Python or some sort of gravel siphon and start siphon'ing all the sand out that has algae. You can do this while doing a WC. If you want to go super aggressive, you can remove ALL the sand, do a rinse on it until its clear and scrub the rock at the same time of any algae, then put it all back in.

This isn't a quick fix though, you will be doing this for awhile. You could also trying dosing Vibrant.

Appreciate the advice. I have actually been scrubbing rocks during WC and using a large forceps to lift up the mats of algae off the bottom ( to heavy for the python to pick up). I used 11/2 bottles of Vibrant and unfortunately for me never even made a dent. I had high hopes since others said it worked for them. I’ll just keep after it.
Thanks

Have you determined what kind of algae it is? If not check out
