I currently have a RedSea Max-E170 and was looking to purchase a sump for the tank. Was wondering what everyone though about the sumps that RedSea put’s out for their tanks or if anyone had any other recommendations on any other companies putting out some quality sumps.

It really depends on what kind of nutrient export you want to run and how you plan on doing your aquascape. If you doing less rock (like me), you need a larger sump for additional bio media. If you want a Refugium (like me), then your best bet is to get a small one build in. If you want a large skimmer (like me), then you'll need good space for this. If you want to have a build in ATO reservoir (like me), then you can get one with this included or account for space next to it.. I got a icecap sump that was probably the best decision I made on this setup..Hope this helps:)

I'd say custom from elite aquatics, lifereef, geo or any of the other top custom fabricators. There are tons of examples on this site of there quality of work and you will be able to get a sump that will fit your needs and space exactly. I purchased a complete lifereef setup myself and am extremely happy with it. It still sits dry right now but will be wet in a couple weeks, man plumbing parts are hard to find!

You're welcome! :) Give Jeff a call, trust me you won't be disappointed. He is a one man show and his build list is a long one but it's worth the wait for sure. You don't even have to know what it is exactly what you want and he will put you on the list and then you have lots of time to work out all the details

Lots of good manufacturers out there now. You might want to check out Elite-Aquatics. This is my 40" sump that I got from them. I ordered without the refugium because I will be using a scrubber. Great quality and attention to detail.

Man, I'm still running my original and it's killing me.... it's going on 15 years! just took out my bio balls six months ago and replaced with ceramic block, I stick with old habits I guess. Next is a new sump for me hopefully under the Christmas tree this year, heck time flys... I still like a floss tray, the filter socks seem expensive but I haven't looked into it much. An ato would make my day!
