Hi everyone!

I have been a member here for almost 2 years but this my first real post. I currently have 14 gallon fusion pro peninsula reef tank, but plan to upgrade to a larger tank. In terms of dimensions, I am looking for something in the range of 48-60 inches long. I am also looking for a nice looking cabinet. In terms of livestock, I plan to have a mixed reef tank with mostly zoas and LPS and possibly some sps (although I currently have no experience with sps). I also plan to have some nice wrasses and tangs. So I have two questions:

1. I would appreciate it if anyone could suggest reputable brands or custom tank/stand builders that they had good experience with. Also any suggestions on glass material etc. Would be very much appreciated.

2. Some corals and specially most fish look nicer under a mixture of blue and white rather than only blue. Any suggestions on lighting (and how tall the tank needs to be) such that I can have white+blue without bleaching my corals and growing nuisance algae?

Thank you very much.

You can find lots of quality stands and tanks on Facebook marketlace/craigslist, from people just looking to get out of the hobby for one reason or another.

Glass and acrylic are the two primary materials, glass is more resistant to scratching but acrylic can do more with interesting shapes.

If budget isn't an object, Radion lights are a great option. They come with pre-loaded templates from Coral Labs that help maximize color and growth. There are also plenty of templates our there for pretty much any light.

Have fun :)

If budget is not a concern, Planet aquarium makes a nice tank / solid stand reef ready.

You mentioned tangs. You should seek at least a 60" tank if you want to keep tangs long term, 72"+ preferred. Tangs quickly grow to 6" or more and then stress easily in a 48" tank.

I have had many tanks over the years. Usually in the 15 to 55 gallon range. Just due to budgets. Filtration was always an issue. I just don't like cleaning filters constantly. Always had canister filters. They work great at cleaning the water but one downfall is that the trap the waste but the waste is still in the water breaking down releasing toxins. So constant cleaning is a must. Consider a sump with filter roller if your like me and don't want to spend time constantly cleaning. I recently upgraded to a Reefer XXL 625. I searched for all different types of aquariums. The Reefer series just seemed the best fit for me. Do a little research on the fish you want. Some require minimum tank sizes and are not reef safe. If your not on a budget go with Radion lights. If your on a budget the popbloom turing 30's are a light i have used on my previous tank and when I upgraded i transferred them to my new tank. They just lack purplish blue color so I added some orphek uv/ blues and have been happy with the color. Also one if my best upgrades was a Co2 scrubber on my skimmer intake fir PH control.

Awesome suggestions, thanks a lot guys. Budget is not an issue so I think I'll go with radions. I've seen them on other reef tanks and they seem very nice. Just wondering, is there a reason some people mix them with T5 lights?

Also, anyone has experience with Waterbox tanks? Someone suggested them to me.

I would say go as big as you can.
Also think about a peninsula style as you can have corals on all 3 sides and it makes cleaning alot easier than a tank against the wall.
Wish I would have turned my 120 corner overflow into a peninsula.
Lights are a personal choice and they all work.
T5's with leds will help eliminate shadows.
I have 2 tangs in my 120 and after 15 months I am already putting togther plans for a tank 3x the current one, lol.
