I'm looking for folks with experience keeping Trapezia sp. crabs.

How long do they live in captivity?

What species would do well in Pocillipora?

Where is a good source to purchase them?

Any other info you think is important/helpful for caring for them?

Thanks,
Tom

We keep several Trapezia sp. crabs in our reef. We acquired them thru LiveAquaria Diver's Den 3.5 to 4 years ago. I don't know the exact species that LADD sells. They do prefer pocillopora, stylophora, and seriatopora, but we have one that tends to hang out in a large Red Planet colony and another that has moved into the "condo" in a large green A. hyacinthus colony that was left vacant after the resident cymo sp. crab who had lived in the colony for 5 years died.

We've never had any issues with the Trapezia crabs that we keep, but they do grow quite large and will need a decent sized colony to reside in.

Drs. Foster and Smith Diver's Den® - Trapezia sp.

Not a great pic, but here's one that resides in one of our pocillopora sp. colonies:

Thanks for the great info, and awesome picture!

How large is "quite large"?

Tom

A couple of ours are quarter-sized (body only, not counting legs and claws).
