Hi All,

I was in a local office location and saw a reef pump (or wavemaker) that was cool because as it operated the head swung from side to side causing a great wave that pushed all detritus up and out ....There was no one there that could answer me as to the brand or model--does anyone know what brand of pump or wavemaker does this motion while operating? I currently have 2 MP40's on my 250 gallon system and one has just died so I am looking for options.

any thoughts?

Bette

+1 sea swirl

There used to be some powerheads that did this may years ago but they all have been discontinued long ago. Sea Swirl on a return or closed loop pump is the way to go these days for what you are wanting. Not sure if the Sea Sweeps are still being made but they let you put any powerhead on and it would sweep side to side.

thank you all for your help--i called Bulk Reef Supply to see if they carried it and they were negative on the sea swirl-they said it is dated technology and no one uses it any longer--can i please get some feedback on the sea swirl--any users out there that love it or hate it?

Joe Yaiullo uses them in the 20,000 gallon reef (and maybe other tanks) at the Long Island Aquarium. If you want feedback from Sea Swirl users, you should probably create a new post with Sea Swirl in the title so people notice it.
