Looking to add a new resident any suggestions?

Hey all
I have a 20 gallon AIO with
2 clown fish
2 peppermint shrimp
3 turbo snails

I wanna add another fish but not sure what I can get away with/ won’t clash with my clowns

Any suggestions ?

I have a possum wrasse in my 20g with 2 clowns a royal gramma, 2 cleaner shrimp and a pom pom crab. They all get along unless a cleaner shrimp gets to close to the clowns rbta.

Not sure, clowns can be very territorial in confined space of a nano tank. There is maybe 15g only there with rocks. Maybe a little tailspot blenny or a fang blenny.

You need a filefish, one that eats aiptasia.

I also have a 20g AIO, a blenny or firefish would be a good addition IMO. Without knowing your feeding and nutrient export, I can't suggest a high energy fish.

Yeah , thinking about one of those but they get too big. The peppermint shrimp are actually handling it

They are cryptic and need lots of hiding space. I think a pair of clowns in a small tank would be very aggressive towards a timid fire fish. Check fang blenny. They are fast moving top swimmers and I think clowns would ignore them because they have toxin in their fangs as a defense.

I would recommend a bottom dweller such as a watchman goby

I have an exquisite firefish and he just hangs out around his hole in the rock that he likes. They are timid but if the clowns are aggressive, I don't think I would subject any fish to that.

I dont see the clowns understanding the fang blenny has a toxin. The clowns shouldn't be aggressive to everything in the tank, if they are, he has bigger issues. Even a tailspot blenny should be fine. I had one of those with a clown in a 12 gallon.

You don't think animals in nature recognize other animals that have venom? Fish know who to stay away from. Some fish have a foul tasting mucous coating and aggressive fish know to stay away from them. Same deal with fang blenny. Yes, tailspots are a good choice to they are fast and tough for their little size. I mentioned them as an option in my prior post.

my experience is that aggressive fish are just that way and nothing really stops that behavior besides diffusing it across multiple fish.

yeah, and it doesn't help that clowns can be ***** in general. Some are great and some are little tank terrors

Agreed, they even turn on their mates sometimes like Friday night at my house.
