Looking to add a yellow fish

Thats a nice looking little fish....want. But I have a three stripe that would likely pester the living daylights out of it or kill it....sigh.

I have a yellow assessor and two citron clown gobies in my 65g. Both add a nice pop of yellow but ... despite perching 90% of the time ... the clown gobies are actually more visible, more often.

While my assessor isn't shy, it not too comfortable with the constant motion of my wrasses and anthias ... so it prefers to spend the day in its cave and comes out in the evening and at night to swim.

Not saying all assessors will be a slight bit reclusive. But, being that they're found beneath overhangs and in caves, it is in their general nature.

Melanurus and Yellow Coris are both Same Genus. So, not sure. Probably different enough coloration, but I would be worried about territory in a 55g.

I can’t speak for that since I have not owned a melanurus, but if it is fairy wrasses then I can say mine never fight.

I’ve had a Rusty and a Coral Beauty that didn’t touch any of my corals and I had a Flame and a different Coral Beauty that both had to be removed and put in a FOWLR tank. I think it just depends on the individual, but given how difficult they can be to get out of a reef tank once they’re in, it’s definitely a risk, I would only add one if it was a fish I was dead set on having (and even then only if I had a contingency plan if it didn’t work out.

I would not do coris with your current wrasse. Yellow tang blenny or Midas or such would be nice.
