Looking to get Jebaos.

Hi all,

I’m looking to get some jebao pumps. I have a 55 gallon Aqueon tank and trying to figure out the best size. The slw look good but I also heard the gyre is good. I’d like 1 of each on each end of the tank. Can someone give a suggestion for size and style? Have lps/clam. What would give enough flow?

Get a better tank first off. 60 gal or 75. The 55 is to narrow once you add rock work.

Slw-20s work really well.

Tank is doing great. Trust me I want larger but Max for my apartment is 50gal but appreciate the advice. So you think 2 slw20 is good for the tank?

I have two of the Jebao gyres on my 125g tank. They move a lot of water but honestly I probably wouldn’t get them again. Once they get dirty they lose a lot of their flow, and they get dirty quickly. If you are a person who would stay on top of maintenance then they’d probably be fine, if you are not likely to clean them often then I would pick something else.
Also it seems like small snails always manage to find their way into the gyres pumps and it doesn’t happen with any of my other pumps.

What size gyres do you have?? I Dona weekly maintenance because I have all HOB equipment. But it is annoying lol I started this with such little money. But want the best I can do

I would just get a couple wavemakers for a good varied flow. I have 4 on my 180g. You definitely don't need a new, bigger tank, all it needs to do is hold water, the rest is up to us and your tank looks great.

Mine are the scp-150. The number in the model number of the Jebao gyres is how many centimeters away it should move water.
If you go with the gyres that may help with what model you should get. Although mine are rated at around 60inches but I don’t think they actually produce any noticeable flow that far away.

two the slw-20 or 30s would work just fine in that tank. Put them on either side set them to random then play with the speed.

I have 2 jebao gyres on my 75, I really like them as they move a lot of water. I haven't had an issue with maintenance with them. An occasional tiny snail gets in them and that does cause problems.

As much as I do like them, one problem I have is they can be overwhelming. It's a blanket of water movement, so some areas get too much flow while others too little. Every tank is different due to rock placement and such.

To add in a mixed reef, my SPS love the flow cranked but my LPS doesn't.

What I had to do was run my gyres just right and I had to add a powerhead in one corner, I had a dead spot. Now I have a nice back and forth wave motion and enough flow, thanks to the powerhead, in the one corner that was blocked by my scape.

I have 2 SLW-30's in my 75 and like them a lot. They move a lot of water as said above. I clean them every 3 months to keep them running smoothly.

One thing though, they will interfere with the Reefbreeder lights. At least they do when set to master/slave.

Man thats way to much for you 55 gal bro. Even on the lowest setting they are gonna sling everything in your tank around. Even for the toughest sps this would be a bit much. I would have gone with the ow-10s for that size tank and what your keeping.

I just cancelled. After reading the reviews and stuff I think they’re too big. It’s tough trying to figure out what the right stuff is to get.

Its realy hard and i think all the pumps these days are way overtuned. But try these. I think for your size tank the would be legit.

Nice thing you xan adjust flow pretty good and the heads are fully aimable anywhere.

Ended up getting 2 xf230 gyres with a controller. These things are really good. Prob too powerful for my tank but they’re good for when I want to upgrade size. Right now running at 10% but with some tinkering of the settings I think they’re gonna be great.

Yeah I agree. I also wanted something I could use in the future with a bigger tank

I have a 4” 65 gallon AIO with two mlw 20’s and two MLW 10’s. The 20’s are on the ends and the 10’s are on the back wall. No dead spots through the tank. Love these pumps. Once I got the finally connected to the Wi-Fi they have been great.
