Looking to ID my new friend.

I got this Blasto a week ago and two plops looked irritated .
I noted something in between the two. Looks harmless, just like to know what it is.

Looks like a vermited snail. Does it release a web out into the water?

Yep, vermatid. Jam something down in it and kill it. They are terrible.... mostly because the are sharp and puncture your skin. They also shoot out a web that can irritate coral.

thanks , I was just going to leave it. BUT now Ill have to look closer, I saw several webs.

I use needlenose pliers to crush them if easily accessible.

Vermatids can be a problem if you have conditions that let them thrive, but are generally just a minor annoyance at most. They're sharp, but you shouldn't handle your rock bare-handed anyway. Take that one off the frag somehow, whatever way works for the hard shell, so it'll stop bothering the blastos.

I scraped off 3 or 4 and all looks good .

Looks like some left. Grab with needlenose pliers at the base and remove
