Hey,

So I bought this zoa last year, I didn’t save the name. I’d like to ID it as it just refuses to grow. In the last year it has produced exactly 0 new polyps. I’m hoping with an ID I can set it up in a position it would prefer and it can finally grow.

It’s skirt is a little more red under the blues than the picture shows. One is under mostly white light. The other is more blue.

These look like babies to me, wait a week and see if they get any bigger, it’s hard to tell because it doesn’t look like they have any real coloration. Try zoabrary.com to see if you can ID them there :)

I tried zoabrary and got nowhere.
I’ve had them for over a year now. They refuse to grow. That’s why I want to ID them so I can do better by them!

Where are they in the tank in regards to lighting and flow? Also, is this a mixed reef tank, SPS dom, LPS dom? And what is your feeding schedule?

Can’t make out what they are... they appear to be slightly reaching, increased flow and lighting could be what they’re going for.. in terms of growth it depends on many factors, some just grow fast and others grow slow... if you can get a picture maybe if you have an iPhone and can get close to the polyp, with an orange filter or something that’d be good ! Rn I can’t discern any colors or anything in the pictures

Currently they are in the mid range for light and flow. It is a primarily soft coral tank. I feed once a week, with reef roids, using a turkey baster.

Believe me, this is as close as we could get without the image being distorted. They are the tiniest little zoas I have ever seen, they're about the size of those sewing pins that have the round plastic heads.

Looking at the picture, and looking at them in the tank, that is pretty close to what they look like. Under the blue light they have a very vibrant red/orange colour.

I'll move them up to more light and see that happens.

Ohhh okay, I mean I would just wait and see if they expand then, try moving them up like you said and see how they do and if they grow better, then once they’re bigger post a pic again !
