Let me start off by saying that if this is the wrong forum to post then just delete my message or feel free to move it but I couldn't find a more appropriate forum.

So I was thinking about posting some stuff up for sale when I looked at shipping rates. Well I live in Fl so I typed in mock shipping address in Ca and it was almost 90$ to ship via fed-ex and ups! I see people giving free shipping and up to 45$ shipping. Is it cheaper if I sign up for an account or am I maybe looking at the wrong thing. Can someone please help me out? I have frags that need to find homes!! :)

Thanks!

Some people have accounts with FedEx and UPS, if you ship with them frequently they tend to give better rates, also available is USPS Express which is about $40 and under, catch is the receiving party's PO must be able to accept overnight, if not it'll take 2-3 days shipping, so that one isn't as reliable sometimes. Others will eat the other cost of shipping as well.

For sure sign up for an account or find a vendor that will allow you to use their account also I would recommend not selling to anybody who doesn't have a long history with r2r or has at least 50 and some feed back post I've been learning the hard way on that one! Good luck

That's a typical shipping rate. Shipping discounts through fedex and ups depend on the volume that you ship. Usually you don't get much of a discount until you are shipping $45,000 per year or so.

Well I tried to sign up for a fed-ex account and it didn't make a difference. Still was the same price. I could see paying 40-45$ for the overnight service, but 85-90$ is rediculous. The ship your aquatics seemed like a good deal except it's not working at the moment. Does anyone know if it has been down for a long time or if it just happened?

I'm going through the same process right now. Trying to figure out how it's possible to ship lower price items without taking a huge loss!

I've got some locals suggesting that we consider the USPS's $35 overnight. I think it's the "if it fits, it ships" campaign. Supposedly, it's next day service. And it's a flat $35.

How much worse could the USPS's next day air be than FedEx or UPS's?
