Hi all I have a 20g tall that I cut down to more of a lagoon style it’s been running for over a 1 1/2 now . I’m looking to upgrade to a 40b and do another sump stand etc.. I wanted to go with a big tank but my basement floor is pretty heaved and what not and will be redoing it but don’t know when so I wanted to keep it a little smaller to hold me over and don’t want to take down a big tank when the time comes . I would like to see ppls 40g breeder setups I want to make somthing really nice out of this so I can keep it for a long time .

I had a 40b hold me over tank while a looked for a home. It served its purpose but in my situation I actually wish I went with a smaller nano tank like you did and then did a bigger upgrade when I moved into my new home. This 40b felt a little wasteful in terms of equipment and cash. Still expensive like any tank, but not a whole lot of equipment that would be relevant when upgrading to a much larger tank. IMO unless you need the space for corals, hang in there while you renovate your basement and then go all in on the real deal. It’s what I wish I did. That’s my unsolicited 2c

edit: missed the part wheee you want to keep it up. I see now!

this 40b had a 4 bulb ATI 36” fixture that was perfect for it. I switched to prime 16s but didn’t like it nearly as much. This tank was a Visio tank with Visio stand and canopy. Pretty nice but not amazing or the quality of a water box stand for example.
