I am starting slow, one thing at a time. I think water health should be the first thing I do. I am looking to get the intank media basket, but there are two. One for the first chamber and One for the second. I am not sure why there are two and which one I should get, or both. I’ve spent hours watching videos and reading and I’m still unsure.

You guys are great here and I am finding this site my go to site for education!

Any input would be extremely helpful please.

TIA

What tank are you running and what media do you want to use ?

So I think your mixing methods.
Chato will pull excess n/p evenly
Gfo pull P.
I wouldn't do both.
I always run carbon. I do like floss for mech filtration.

I'm a big advocate of the kiss method.

Bio balls I really don't think it's a need , even if you don't have a lot of rock, a few of those isn't really going to do much. It is nice to have some seeded though in case you need to set up a hospital tank very quickly.

Duh moment! I guess that info would be useful. It’s a fluval evo tank with three chambers. The return pump being in the third.
Haha. No worries at all.

When I had my jbj cube , one thing and maybe it's the jbj design, but the back chambers always got gross.
I'd look at keeping it run with purigen (cac) and then balls and floss. See if you get the same build up. And go from there
