Looking to upgrade stock skimmer (SCA302) on my SC aquarium 66G. Footprint is about 9.5x10 ish. Considering Deltec 1660 / Tunze 9410 / Coral Box D700. I am going for the biggest one I can find, cost no bar. Any suggestions?

IMO you owe it to yourself to contact Jeff at lifereef and check his skimmers out. He will build a custom skimmer for you.

Either that or something deltec, or reef octo or.... do something dc though that is adjustable.... tons of choices and tons of info in this forum alone. Good luck!! ( lots of options!) and opinions!!

Can't beat Deltec! However the 1660 is considerably oversized on 66 gallons if I'm reading you right on that. The biggest I'd go is the Sc1455 which is still oversized but not terribly so. Check out this link for some info on the new design, including a new overflow flow containment feature. Very cool stuff.

Thanks guys ! Adam, I considered the 1455, it seems a bit under powered even when compared to the stock SCA-302 I got with the setup

Right on man I hear you for sure but Don't let the size fool you. These thing work incredibly well. It's very likely that the 1455 will "catch up" with the DOC load, and you won't really see a steady production of good dry foam even, like you would with the size smaller 1351. But that's not really a bad thing. The 1455 is still a decent fit for sure and you can feed like crazy.

The 1660 would honestly be way more skimmer than you need on under 100 gallons. You'd end up with solid crud deposits on the inside of the neck after a little while, and not much if any good foam collecting as skimate in the cup. There just wont be enough organics in the system to keep a head of foam solid enough to do it. It's a cool effect to be sure, but I prefer that nice steady stream of dry foam that you'll get with an appropriately sized skimmer.

if you have any questions at all man Please don't hesitate to let me know
