Looks like dino, isnt it? It surprises me, because my tank is just 3 months old and I think it is normal to have diatoms, but this looks more like dino, I think. thank you in advance.

It does look like it might be dinos. Try dosing vibrant it helps combat diatoms and dianos. better safe than sorry.

It looks like it could be dinos. What are your nitrates and phosphates, and what test kits are you using?

Phosphates are normaly 0.03 and nitrates 5 ppm aproximately. Ill test nitrates and I will tell you, sadly I cant test phosphates right now because I run out of the product. Nitrates test is Red sea nitrate pro and the phosphates one is the hanna H1736.

Hmm seems like my nitrates are lower than 0.25 ppm in this moment. My nutrients seem so low.

It wouldn't be that common to have a huge dino outbreak in a 3 month old tank, though. So, I would be leaning more toward a diatom bloom or even some cyano. Do you have access to a microscope? That is the best way to find out for sure and make things easier for your management.

Getting a positive ID under a microscope is a great first step, if you can. Very low nutrients seem to play a role in dino outbreaks. There is huge thread with a ton of into on Dinos.

I have something I tought it was a microscope, but It seems like It hasnt got enough power. This is what I got. Is there anyway I can confirm if its dino without a microscope? Thank you for the thread, I will look into it
anyway

No sorry, the pics need to be higher magnification for identification.

There are a few ways to possibly diagnose dinos without a microscope, but they are really hit or miss. Plus, if dinos are present, it is best to know they exact type in order to tailor your attack approach.

Mmm alright, thank you so much, I will buy a microscope as soon as I can!

I picked up an AmScope M150C and it has been great. It really helps to see what is going on and then to tailor an attack plan. I use mine regularly to look at stuff growing in the tanks...mainly looking for dinos!
