Had him there for 2 weeks was fine til last night and looked worse this morning. It got up to 86 degrees yesterday and tank went up to 83 normally I keep it at 78. Clowns and goby seem fine. What do you think caused this? Tank too hot? Is there anything I can do? I did gradually get it back to 78.

There are so many variables that can lead to a fish dying. 86 degree temps could have very well did him in. Was he acting and eating fine prior to the temp increase?

Hi revh, no he was perfectly fine up unti yesterday. He died btw I just got home and took him out. It was 86 outside not in tank. Tank went up to 83. I was prepared for the heat. I'm a newb and all else in tank seems ok. I feel bad I only had him for like 2 weeks he was tiny n cute and $30 wasted. The heat outside caught us off guard. It's normally isn't this warm in may so i hadn't put the ac window units up yet.

sorry for the loss... a cheap route to go to help keep the tank cool is to Freeze water bottles with RO/DI and float them in the tank! it doesnt look pretty but whatever works to keep the temp down

does it have to be RODI water in the bottles?
