Prayers to those that survived.

Still trying to get more information, but here is the breaking story.

Luckily the tsunami was relatively small so hopefully most were able to escape that. Biggest problems now are related to health issues. Water is contaminated and the ash in the air can become deadly after long exposure. Hopefully NZ can make it in early this next week with supply and help start any necessary evacuations. Stay optimistic

gotta love the sensational hyperbolical crap the daily mail pumps out…
much akin to their brethren, foxnews.

sighs

this occurred yesterday, and luckily,
it looks like tonga might of dodged a bullet.

and the tsunami threats didn’t really
materialize to utter destruction…
just a few centimeters to meters of water depending on location.
certainly nothing close to what happened in 2004

Yet even the Daily Mail didn’t suggest that ‘Tonga is gone’.

hahaha, didn’t even bother to follow the link once i saw where it led to…
took the op at his sensational word i suppose

Tonga isn’t gone. Let’s not overreact. Also, the Daily Mail is about as trustworthy a news source as the National Inquirer.
This is why social medias is dead. It is also why this site in general sux to post on.

Truth is there are many others out there that aren't as outspoken and know everything that might be interested in what is going on.

Yes I was aware of this story yeterday, I watch the news every day. I also think it is interesting that DailyMail is associated with FoxNews (no I don't read that) but not with MSNBC or CNN or the rest.

Please more hate it really makes things so much better.

Argghhhh

Vitamin H has become a essential nutrient for some people now. They ingest so much it just leaks out everywhere.

So Tonga isn’t gone .... literally?
7.4 magnitude earthquake, ash covering island, no drinking water and north shore of Nucu'alofa (their capital) huge boulders and boats washed ashore, 4 foot tsnami wave. All communications cut off.

You decide how to take that.

It has not ‘gone’.

The definition of ‘gone’ is ‘come to an end’ or ‘cease to exist’.

Your sensationalist headline is, literally, incorrect.

Ok, sadly this post has come to this.

Now we are into semantic arguments.

You win, you are certainly smarter than me.

Good thing you showed me that. Now I will bow to you, because you 'won'.

The ignore button doesn't mean you cease to exist. I just don't have to look at your regurgitated bile anymore usually for silly things that don't matter.

That is not the point; I am not trying to ‘win’.

If you don’t understand the difference between incorrectly announcing that a country ceases to exist, and the facts they have suffered a terrible catastrophe, then that is on you.

I knew about the news (I am currently in San Diego and they had a Tsunami warning yesterday morning). I knew about the eruption, I was shocked to see your announcement of Tonga’s demise so searched online and found out that there is no indication that what you say is true.

I used to work in rescue; telling someone’s family that their loved ones were dead when they weren’t was one of the biggest things that the protocols were designed to avoid. It is not semantics, what you posted is just not true (as far as anyone knows at this time).

Imagine being a journalist now. The average reading level is 8th grade. Except 8th grade now is like 3rd grade 50 - 75 years ago.
Island go boom. Volcano. Very bad. Much broke. See picture.
