Straight from the website... How can anyone argue with that? I mean, "Compare with the price is 1st choice for budget use". That says it all right there.

Seriously though, for that price, I may very well replace one of my Koralias with one of these if/when one of them keels over. I'll be paying attention to people's comments as these are used more and more.

Ordered mine on 3/5, it was shipped on 3/11, last tracking was, left San Fran, CA on 3/15. So i say 2wks from time of order til deliever

But if i say only give it 12 volts on low setting, it would be to much for a 40 breeder?


Plan on upgrading to a 75 in the next year.

4300L is the lowest setting for the wp-40
3800L is the highest setting for the mp10

So if i downvolt it and set it at low it should not blow my tank on the floor?

Just asking cause mp-10 254$ wp-40 85.00=169$ in my pocket for a skimmer!

If you want to try it, then go ahead. But if i were you and i didnt want the mp10. I would sell the mp10 and buy the cheapest used pumps i could find. Im sure if you asked around you find acouple used powerheads for a cheap price($20) Then when the wp25 come out you still have all your money and you buy the wp25 and have some old cheap powerheads as backup and it only cost you around $20.

Give us a detailed first impression pleeease, I want to know a little more about these powerheads before I order two.
 
The pump looks well put together, the rubber dampners are excellent additions to keep noise down. Im sitting across the living room(10ft) and cant hear it all. Even when im next to the glass i can barely hear a hum when the pump is 100%. I did buy a variable power supply used for laptops plus a dimmable power supply used for leds( hasnt showed up yet).

The w1 mode puts out a great wave. I just havent found the sweet spot for it to really sync up to my tank just yet. The other modes(w2 and w3) i havent really play with those just yet. The else mode is okay but when i chose it, it never cycled to other modes( else mode=random mode) after doing some reading online the control knob on the controller controls how long it takes to cycle the random modes. I had the knob turned all the way down for longest cycle time. Once i figured this out it was lights out time in my tank and i have the controller in my canopy so that the light sensor would work. So its in nite mode right now and will play with it tomorrow.

The suctions cups/magnet are really strong on my 3/8" glass. I even took off the magnet on the outside and the pump was hard to slide across the glass inside the tank.
With the pump turned down to 15volts, in W1 mode(wave mode) with the control knob turned all the way down( off 1 second, on 1second) its blowing all the way across my 4ft tank with a 1"wave.
I havent been able to make a huge wave just yet, as i feel that only happens when the pump is properly synced to the tank size.

I did notice lots of gunk in suspension after turning on this pump and turning off my korlia 4 and 3. So at the moment it is the only pump in my tank except for the 1200gph returns from my return pump.

The only dislike i have so far and is the variable power supply i bought has a short power cable and i had to do some electrical rearranging so it could be plugged in and thats not the wp40's fault.

In a day or two i will have this pump dailed in to my tank and potentially i may buy a wp25 for the other side or maybe another wp40 but for now im 100% pleased with the price,shipping,controller,powersupply and the pump.

Do you think one wp40 would be too much for a 48"x24" tank? What type if variable power supply did you purchase? I would like to give one of these a try. For the price it looks very promising

Greg thanks for the info, I do believe I'm sold on it. I was supposed to order a couple today but got busy, I'll be sure to get it done tomorrow.
 
I didnt make a huge wave till I lowered my water level... I was able to gef about a 4 inch wave with one pump on my 180.. I have one centered and half way down and one halwaydown towords the back .. I had one off while doing a waterchange

Ive noticed from using mp40s that waves are severly affected by your overflows. All this info is making me regret just buying a 6105 haha. Ill have to get one of these and compare the 2 power wise.
 
My tank is 48" x 24". I think one wp40 will be fine but its too early to tell if two would be better.
My first thoughts is 2 wp40 would be better to have all the corals a wave back and forth. Right now i can get half the tank of corals to wave and the other half doesnt just yet. They just act like a regular power head is pointing at them and they are just blowing around not back and forth.

The variable power supply i got is from a online computer store. Ill try and find the link to it. As well as the led dimmer dial even though i havent receive it just yet to see if it works better or worse.
