Hi all.
Can someone please explain to me why my brain coral is loosing its green colour. I'm running Led lights with all parameters being good.
Regards
Michael.

What are your parameters? Lps like water that's a bit 'dirty'. How often is the tank fed, do you target feed the coral? Can we get a photo of the brain to see what's happening to it?

Hi.
Nitrate was 40ppm but a wster change sorted that out. I do weekly changes.

Hi
I do weekly water changes which keeps things in check as its only a 90 litre cube. I feed the 4 small fish once a day in the afternoon making sure all scraps are gone. I don't target feed any corals.
Nitrate =0
Nitrite =0
Ammonia =0
PH= 8.3
Salt= 1.026
Temp= 26 deg C

How many hours is your lighting period? It might be from not enough light. Target feeding it a night when it's feeders are out will help it as well. Are you a fellow Aussie?

Hi.
The lights are on from 6.00am till 9.00pm every day.
Haha, yes I'm in Campbelltown.

Is that full light for 15hrs? Normally 12hrs is enough with exception of moon light for aesthetics. How far down from the light is the brain?
I'm from central Queensland.

Yeah, thats full light. Approximately 40cm away from the light.
I'm starting to think that maybe a different kind of light may be in order.
what sort of food do you feed your corals as I don't feed mine.

I'm currently using brightwells zooplaniktos
once a week and I also broadcast feed ocean nutrition frozen chopped krill one to twice a week at night after lights out when the feeders are out. I agree with the lights those Aquaone lights are OK for very basic stuff however lack punch for anything else. Have you looked at what you might replace it with yet?
