I’m losing some coral and I’m not sure as to why.
My numbers seem in range:
Alk:9.5
Ca: 425
Mg: 1300
NO3: .5
PO4: .08

I’m losing my Hollywood stunner, a red digi and an red planet acro. My lighting is Kessil Ap700 (30% max) with the aquatic life hybrid T5. It's all over a RSR250. All corals were doing great and are now fading fast. I'm just at a loss...

Are you doing water changes or dosing any trace elements? Anything new introduced? Anything in the home change ? ( fragrances, sprays, cleaning, painting, etc. )

I have a frag table in my basement. I have a small vent that runs outside at just above ground level. My neighbor decided to be a good neighbor and sprayed roundup 2 on some weeds on the side of my house. Some of the product worked it's way back through the vent which is directly above my tables. Within ten days almost all corals were dead. All aquarium levels tested out perfect. Tried multiple different test kits to back up my results. No fish died, no shrimp or crabs died. However snails slowly died. The chemical in roundup is called glyphosate. It's a very nasty chemical. On land it has about a two week half life. In water it can be over 90 days. It tends to be somewhat safe for fish around ponds and lakes etc. But it seems to quickly take out corals. Not trying to scare the crap out of everyone, but be very careful not to get any herbicides near thier reef tanks by physical introduction on hands or arms. Also, the vapor from nearby spraying.

The best remedy I could find was to tear everything down, and bleach the entire system. Then start over.
Bleach will break down glyphosate.

Now as far as your tank issues, more info is needed.
Could be chemical introduction, could be an electrical leak from a pump or heater. Could be a quick temp change.
Might be a reef test kit that's not working properly?
Try to recall all of your actions, add ons, changes, new foods, or new supplements , flow changes, light changes, or any other changes to the system you have had occur recently.

When in doubt, change the water out!
Do a 30% change and maybe add some new chemical filter media like:
Chemipure Blue, Polyfilter by bio marine inc., hi grade carbon pellets. These can help to strip unwanted chems. Alpha by Aqua Vitro to pull out possible heavy metals?
Give us more info. And this may help everyone to trouble shoot your tank.

Thanks

I don't do them as much as I should. I'm going to do a 5 gallon today.

The new things that I've done is I added a new fish and dosed my tank with prazipro. Once the prazipro was completed I added BRS .8 Rox carbonI also added the Neptune DOS, but I was manual dosing daily. I'm currently in the middle of cleaning my 2 MP40s. I'm also trying to look for any exposed rust as I've seen that on social media. I just noticed that my cleaner shrimp is missing and my GIANT monti cap is starting to go on top. I'm at a loss as to why things are slowly dying. For now, all my LPS looks good.

They are building a house next door, but nothing as far as spraying since they are complete with the exterior.

Hollywood stunner is dying FAST. I lost at least 20% over night. Bump for any other thoughts?

I have the exact same setup as you do and am also loosing things. what bulbs are you running in your t5? I found an interesting post on the ap700 im starting to wonder if its the root cause of my problems. going to swap out for some XR15's next week. Look at this thread and let me know what you think

My t5 bulbs from front to back are, blue plus, coral plus, purple plus, blue plus. Also how high do you have yours mounted? I am at 12"

I would send in an ICP test in order to confirm or exclude known metal or trace elements issues. I think that light can affect coral health in some way but – IMO – it is not the case in fast development of problems as it looks like in this case.

Try to figure out if there is any possibilities of external airborn pullutants like the thing mentioned in post 3 - scented candles, hair sprays and chemical air purifiers should also be confirmed or excluded.

Sincerely Lasse

Havent seen any discussion of salinity. What is your salinity, how was it measured, and how was the device calibrated?

Pics always help. Perhaps individual coral pics and a full tank shot.
