I think I'm going to lose my naso. She's one of six tangs in my DT (230G). I ordered her from Dr. Reef with a yellow eye kole. Dr. Reef kept her 2 weeks longer because she stopped eating. When he did ship her, the kole was the only tang. She was introduced with a scopas, a vlamingi, a yellow, and a sailfin. The four that were introduced with her were bigger. The vlamingi is probably 6-7" and was rescued from a 25 gallon biocube. The kole, not very big, was pretty salty to everybody for a couple of days but everybody pretty much ignored him. They all more or less hang out together...except for the naso. She's been very much a loner. I noticed her yesterday and this morning pretty much stationary about half way up the and between two rocks. She wasn't swimming oddly but just basically hovering like a barracuda. She did eat some macro yesterday so I wasn't too worried.
I like to watch them while I eat my lunch. I noticed that she had moved to the bottom and appeared lethargic. Within moments she was lying on her side. I got her into QT as soon as I could. I popped some pellets and her own nori clip in there just in case. She seemed interested at first, but then seemed more lethargic. She's still breathing but I suspect that the flow in the QT is the only thing causing her to move.

The lights are off and nobody's going into that room. I'm hoping she makes it because she is the fish I built my tank with in mind. I'm pretty sure it's too late though.

Thanks. I'm sorry to read you had the same thing happen. I had a blonde naso 20 years ago when I had my first tank. It grew into a beast. I've read about how difficult tangs can be and that was so opposite my experience years ago.

I started to think there is something is wrong with recent imported naso tangs I called a friend and he told me he had the same issue with his naso tang yesterday even though he bought it from another LFS but about the same size as mine and yours, could you please tell me where is yours imported from ?

I ordered him from Dr. Reef (drreefsquarantinedfish.com) and paid for the full quarantined as opposed to the less strenuous conditioned option.

Fish is very thin and showing weakness and is becomming moribund which is a term used when fish is highly distressed or in trouble with a low chance for recovery or stability. Strange is, this is the 3rd Naso I have come across today with similar symptoms.
The proble is getting this fish to eat. You Can increase aeration using an airstone, but it may change nothing.
As I told another individual, I'd be devastated if it were mine. The spots on the body are indicator of stress.

Problem with qurantined and non quarantined is the amount of time/temperature in shipping and buildup of ammonia in bag.

I strongly believe there is something wrong, 2 people just reported here where I live same exact issue

Sorry to hear….

In the first video, it seems to be breathing very fast. In the second video it is breathing slower, but I suspect that is due to respiratory collapse.

I don’t think there is anything to be done for this fish, but you need to observe the others closely for similar signs, in case it was a contagious issue.

As @vetteguy53081 said, we’ve seen some naso issues recently, I wonder if there is something going on with the source?

I can definitely increase aeration. I'm pretty bummed for sure. This is the one I've wanted for since my first tank shut down years ago. Thank you for your input.

I've had her for 9 days and other than being a loner, I didn't really notice anything going on until yesterday.

I’m suspecting with others as well as yours something either internal or method of capture or transporter themselves.
As with others, was yours breathing heavy, eating little to nothing and just laying in corner?
Any white poop or darting behavior?

Thanks Jay. I'll definitely keep an eye on the rest. They're definitely way more active than she has been. They hang out on either side of the tank waiting for the nori. I did up the aeration in the QT. She is still breathing but it's definitely labored. She's moving but it appears to be related to the flow of the pump.

Nothing that I noticed until yesterday. She was pretty timid which I figured was because the others were more aggressive for their food. She would come to the food after everybody had picked at it. She did tear into that red macro though. She was the only one that liked that and she was fairly aggressive about it as recently as last night.

She was gone when I returned to the office tonight. I was probably too late to aerate. Not sure why I didn't think of that.
