Lately, I have noticed a decline in health and polyp loss on almost all of my caribbean zoas and Paly's, while all my indo pacific's are flourishing? Could it be that some of the indo stuff (leathers/palys) could be causing soem type of chemical warfare and killing the caribbeans? What sux, is I lost all three frags I got from Bryan in Feb. :(

Any Thoughts?

I've been having the same issue with only my caribbean stuff lately, time of year thing maybe?

I dont think you are the only one matt. I gave up a long time ago on them. I started them low light, they looked like ---- moved them up and for 2-3 days poped then they went down hill till they melted away. I wont try again

sam, I moved mine around till i wore a 1/4 inch off the frag plug low flow med, high light , med in the shade still only lasted a couple weeks. I think were going to be hearing a lot of this too come

I think they're just not as hardy.... maybe being that they're wild caught and so recently aquired from the ocean to our tank that they have not adapted, and may be going thru the darwin survival sorting in our tanks .
where as pacifics palys have gone thru the darwin selection process and only the strong and tank adapted made it.... probably 90% won't make it from ocean to tank... the 10% that are strong breed and flourish long term. my theory anyway.

I got some tooties that have been just hanging on for a couple months. They are just staying small and not open all the time.

On the other hand I have a nice little colony of caribs that have been awesome and grows great. I have had it for almost a year now at least.

Here they are:

when i mean shaded, i mean really shaded where they aren't getting as much light. i know some of the carribs come from deep water... some come from shallow water where they are exposed for short amount of time during the day.

My europas we supposedly of carribean origin when I bought them from Robsreef about 3 years ago. They are very hardy for me, and have been through a lot and have done well with several fraggings. I've kept in a wide range of light and flow. Maybe it's just a matter of luck with these wild colonies...

wow. I thought I was the only one. Not that I am happy to hear its happening to you guys too.
I also have some tooties that have been just hanging on. They actually grew two new babies, then pooped out... I think I will take a hiatus from Caribbeans for a while. have dipping them done anything for you? I tried lugols in tank water, no help. I was contemplating the Furan 2 dip??

i have the blue kisses that look great too. thanks rev fr the shoot. very healthy looking
