losing my new banded

I got my new copper banded off my closed loop intake screen 2x tonight and now he is under attack from a serpent star under my pile of rocks. I think he's a goner. I wish I knew why I can't have one of these??

i have had 3 fish lost to a closed loop intake...one of which was a powder blue....thats the fish i wish i could keep...so i feel your pain
