Purchased a few new frags of zoas about a week and a half ago, one red, one green. Red is doing great, very happy. Green, on the other hand, is dying quick.

Here's what it looked like ten days ago:

and here it is today:

Three quarters of it is closed, and about a third of it looks like it's dead, flesh brown and falling off. Anyone have any ideas?

Need to do a furan 2 dip to try to save them. Be very careful when handling because of palytoxin.

Use one packet of furan 2 per cup of tank water. Dip for 15-20 minutes while occasionally stirring the water to get good coverage. Hopefully you can save some of them.

Do you know how to frag zoas?

Thanks. You think it's fungal? I'll order the furan 2 today.

I've read a lot on fragging, but have never actually attempted it. Should I try to remove the bad stuff?

You could try to brush it off with a soft brush. Again be super careful. Make sure you have gloves and eye protection at the least. Or keep them underwater and brush them off while under there. Not sure if it's fungal or bacterial, but furan2 dips are really the only option to save them.

Doing my first Furan2 dip now. Should repeat, maybe every few days? Or would that be too stressful on the polyps?

Every day for at least 3 days
Awesome, thanks. FYI half of the frag has pretty much melted away at this point. Other half has white dots on some of the polyps. Zoa pox, I'm guessing... I brushed what I could. Should I cut off the bad half?

Yes so long as you do so carefully and with the protection!

I'm having the same issue on some of my zoas, I did a FW dip, coral revive dip and Bayer dip. I did each dip on different occasions and they are now starting to open up but some are still closed. I thought I had a problem with nudibranchs or zoa spider but I didn't see anything related. I'm not sure what's going on. Is there something I can put into my entire tank to help solve this issue in the future? I kinda hate dipping all my zoa colonies its pita. Not sure if it's zoa worms? Zoa pox etc

Just an update... The entire frag did end up melting away, even after Furan2 treatments. It didn't last long at all. The other zoa frag I got at the same time is doing great, however - has even started to spread. Guess that one frag was just a bad one. Thanks for all the help, everyone!

It happens. Sometimes zoa frags just melt.

I ended up treating entire system with Flatworm Exit to kill nudibranchs I just finished my second treatment within a week and half and zoas are looking better. I didn't see any flatworms but did find small nudibranchs floating in water column my fish had a feeding frenzy. I will probably do a 3rd treatment within another week.
