Loss of livestock

I don't know what happened. My livestock was fine yesterday and my LFS told me to do a 50% water change to help with my nitrates. I did the change and then this morning when I woke up both my tangs and my arrow crab were dead. No clue waht could have happened.I checked my parameters and everyhting was in check. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Was the temperature of the new water the same as the tank water?
Where did you get the new water from?

water temp was the same. The new water came from my faucet-same place it always does.

I ran my tank for about 15 years with tap water with absolutely no problems. Then once I did a water change and all the fish died in a few minutes, most of the corals lived.
I called the water company and they added zinc orthophosphate to the water supply to control corrosion in the town pipes.
The fish in an LFS near my house also lost all their fish.
This happened to my tank twice, now I have resins made for that chemical.

Was this new salt water?? Also waht was the salinity??

It was. The salintiy was 1.024

Also I looked back and looked like you were just looking for live rock and sand on 8/14. If you were setting up you tank then there is no way it had cycled yet. With salt water you have to take it slow. at least 4 to 6 weeks to cycle then slowly put in some fish. It looked like you added 2 tangs in a 29 gal, that was way too much. Tangs should never be put in a small tank like a Bio-cube. Tangs need big tanks, they get big.

tank has been set up 2 months. no RODI unit. and tangs were 4 inches long and i have a 55 gallon tank waiting when they got bigger.
