See if this link works for the video. File too large on phone

Well, darn, I was wrong! I though I could tell you if it was brook or velvet from the video, but really, I can't see things clearly enough other than to say it does not seem to be ich.

The trouble is - velvet and brook have two different treatments. I guess I'm stuck with the original recommendation to try Ruby Reef, unless you have a treatment tank, and then, I would suggest a FW dip followed by copper.

dang man. Thank you all for the responses. Feel like I'm in over my head.

Maybe a better video?

I'm still on the fence with this. Ruby Reef Rally Pro doesn't have a stellar track record, but at least it can be dosed in the display tank. Copper needs to be done in a treatment tank, and won't help if the case is Brooklynella. Sorry I can't be more definitive, I don't like to guess about other people's fish.....

My maintenance guy gave me Kick-Ich. I've seen many mixed reviews tbh but I don't have a QT tank and wanted to get something in there quickly. Very hard to get a pic.
Kick Ich does NOT kill ich on fish. It kills off the free swimming stuff. The most effective medicated in tank treatment for ich that is "reef safe" I have seen is Metro w Focus and kick ich.

do you think a FW dip could be used to help ID brook?

Totally understand and appreciate everything.

what are your params BTW? when did the issues start? any new additions?
Ill be 100%. i need to get better at that part. I usually just have my maintenance guy (handling this same exact tank for last 12 years) come in every 3-4 weeks (came last week). I visually inspect the fish daily as i enjoy observing them and watch them interact with each other. I didnt really notice anything super crazy til monday night (03/28). when i woke up the next morning, the angelfish had passed and then i went home for lunch and thats when i found the clown. The pic of him on this thread was the morning i found the angel. I knew he was struggling but i had nothing for him.

In terms of new additions, when the tank was serviced last week i just got a new CUC.

something could have come in on the CUC that was added, but overnight upon introduction of cuc is fast, even for velvet and brook. Maybe a decent number of CUC died and theres ammonia building up? Do you have any means of testing ammonia and PH?

i have ammonia alert coming in tomorrow.

I have always had an issue with CUC going to war with each other so there have been some casualties. That has been since Day 1 so i didnt think anything of it. Maybe on this batch there were just too many.

I wouldnt say it happened over night upon introduction of the CUC (they were added last week Tuesday 03/22). Monday night the angel and the clown had that substance on them but i didnt see a build up. just like bam. Im sure its my fault and maybe there was something there before that i just didnt see. i need to get better.

oh, if it was a day or two (or more) before happening then its more likey to be disease. I would recommend keeping a Redsea or Sailfurt test kit on you in case of things like this.

i bought this test kit yesterday but it doesn't say anything about ammonia. did i waste my money? is there something else out there that is a one stop test kit?

get a marine aquarium kit. That was a drinking water test kit.

Something like this. You want to be able to test Ammonia, Nitrates and PH at the least. API is notorious for being inaccurate, so stay away from their stuff.

is treating what the fish may have with Cupramine out of the question? in a QT of course

you can use something with formalin, or copper. Using both will kill the fish. Can you do a FW dip to see if it relieves the fish at all?
I can try that. im at work for now and dont even have the QT setup. thats the issue im having. no time and by the time i get home most places are closed. going to see if i can pick up some copper testing kits at LFS
