I’m sad to say that one of my cardinals was ostracized from the group and killed in the night and I only have 4 now I’m considered taking two back and just keeping two for a pair :( I feel absolutely terrible
I also wanted to know if now that they’ve been aggressive if I need to worry about it towards any other fish? I wanted to get clownfish soon but I’m nervous about aggression

From what I've read and witnessed, they will continue to kill each other off.

You can only keep two for a pair if they have already paired off. Beyond that, I would suggest trying to sex them via the vent method. 1 for females, 2 for males.

I have yet to be successful mating a pair and only have a solo...

Can you please tell me what the vent method is and how to perform it on benghai cardinals? Thanks! I’ve got what was supposed to be a mated pair from DD and one is attacking the other. One has its mouth open and I’m not sure if it’s injured or brooding eggs.

I’m assuming your talking about bangai cardinals ? The dominate fish will kill off the weaker ones until there’s only a pair left. Unless you have a very large tank that can support multiple pairs. If you can identify the pair then I would remove the remaining fish.
