So I ordered a cuc; over 100 critters. They shipped on tues. Unfortunately just like last time I ordered from them, the two day priority shipping made it to 25 mins from me by friday at 4am. Should have been delivered friday. But didn't show. I thought for sure sat. But nope. Post office has no idea where it is. They say it gets scanned everywhere it goes. But left nashua @ 4an friday. And instead of being delivered it disappeared. Its been very hot and humid in my area and you can bet when it arrives on monday or tues. From fairy land where it has obviously has been, it will be doa. It kills me that these poor creatures are suffering. And on top of that I will have to pay shipping again. :-( post office distribution could care less. So bummed!!

Man that's not cool sorry for your troubles getting it to you. Lots of bad stories about usps shipping.

I understand the economics of trying to save some money on shipping USPS. But you would think a company like "DEAD2go" would stop shipping their critters this way, sending them to an almost certain death.
I stopped ordering from them because of this. Even with upgrading shipping, the survival rate is very low. They are good with honoring their DOA policy, but what good is that when you have to kill 3 to get one alive??

The other thing I have noticed with USPS, is that wet packages will be set aside for a few days to dry out(makes them appear to be lost)
Another result of poor packaging

It happens with every carrier (fed ex, ups, usps) It sucks and u would think that it can't be that difficult to deliver a package on time and undamaged. I've ordered live stuff twice and both times showed up late, it's a flip of a coin the way I see it.

Sorry for your troubles. Hope it shows up and everything is still alive.

When they come on time the survival rate is great. But unfortunately it gets lost a lot. I'm starting to agree. I don't understand how it happens. Makes all the way from fl to nh in a day np. Then gets lost on the last 10 miles. It would be funny if it were not so sad.

dang good luck on that, I ordered from them and got it in under 24 hours and still most things were dead. They put almost no water with the creatures. I won't ever buy from them again, I didn't even bother calling for a refund, just happy to wash my hands of dealing with that again.

Try reeftopia. I've ordered from them multiple times and have yet to receive anything that died during transit. I generally make a point of requesting sellers to only ship on Mondays or Tuesdays so nothing gets held up over the weekend. I've learned the hard way that most animals won't survive the two to three day shipping. I only use it for cheap frags that aren't worth overnite rates and I always request as much water as they can get in the shipping package.

That stinks it happened. But the post office has the highest rate of delivered packages out of the big three. Express overnight is at 99.2%. 2 day priority is 97.6%

Those numbers are from this past week. I work at a processing plant for the post office.

Your a postal worker, that's awesome.

It's actually not reefs2go fault it is USPS. They are terrible when it comes to handling packages which I why I have them hold any packages at their facility. I have dealt with hat your dealing with and it is a pain which I why I now have them hold and pick it up from the facility. I've ordered $300+ from reefs2go (never more than $80 at a time) and all my cuc has arrived alive even with the usps bs. The only deaths I've had occur were a couple gorgs and I got a refund within a week. When ordering from them in the future I recommend buying the lesser cuc pack ($19.99-39.99) and ask usps to hold your package.

PS I guess I'm just lucky my stuff is never dead even though it is never in time

I just domt get how it happens. The way they explain it, it should be impossable to lose. Left nashua for manchester scanned. Its a 20 min ride. Manchester says the entire load gets put on a different truck and sent to derry. Which is 15 mins away. So no scan. Then derry should have it within an hour of leaving nashua. And it should get scanned. Not complicated and they said the whole shipment for this area stays together. Somehow it never gets scanned in derry but the rest of the shipment does show. Then they said it should get scanned whereever it goes. And two days go by without any scans. Its like they're hiding there mistake. Why has it not been scanned anywhere. And this is the second time the same thing. Kills me.
I've ordered from reefs2go plenty. When it gets here quick its usually good. No problem with the company just with shipping. I live in nh so its a long trip. But they always lose iy in the next town over which is frustrating.

I agree USPS is great! 2-3 day shipping for live animals...not so much. I ship algae all the time and 99% (or as you put it 97.6%) they make it there just fine.
But would you agree, that poor packaging would cause a delay?
I only speculate on that because from my experience of ordering from other hobbyists(or Dead2go.com), it seems like more of a 50% delivery rate. And when they do show up there is obvious signs of water damage. This of course is not USPS's fault. They must just throw them aside somewhere until they dry out

Yes, if a package has any type of stain or looks like a fluid leak protocol is to pull it from the mail stream and taken to the leaker room where it is opened and inspected. The shipper is usually called as well then sent on its way. But this usually takes a few days.

There you go!
I'd be willing to take a bet, that your package is in the leaker room right now. And a bunch of Postal employees are sitting around saying what the heck are these weird little creatures and who is having them mailed???

Any package that seems to be leaking or heavily damaged is removed from the belt and then fixed if possible or gets dealt with later that day where I work. At worst gets shipped out the next day. If it's missing longer than that, I'm willing to bet it was dropped off at a wrong address by mistake.
