Came home tonight to discover that my trigger is missing. He has been in the tank for about three weeks and has been eating well and there were no signs of disease. I checked all around the bottom of the tank and stand and there was not evidence of him jumping (unless the dog picked him up). All my other fish are swimming and healthy. I moved a few rocks in the tank and could not see him. Any chance these guys hide in the sand?
I hope he shows up!

I've never heard of that, I would guess highly unlikely. How large is the tank? That's a good size fish to lose!

I wouldn't worry They love to shove themselves in holes or between rocks. Often not smart enough to hide their tail but, wouldn't be surprised if he went missing for a couple days for the first few months. seems like blue jaws tend to be scaredy cats.

I hope your right

Unfortunately he has died. I think that maybe he got beat up by my kole tang. This makes me very nervous about adding anymore larger fish. What do you think about adding a Naso tang?

Adding a new tang may be difficult. If the new tang is bigger this may help. Utilizing a social acclimation box for introducing new fish may also help.
