Lost frogspawn heads after 3 day blackout for dinos

My 16 gallon reef has been stable for the longest time, until I got bubble algae and started to increased my water changes which got to a point where my nutrients were too low and now I have dinos. I had dinos about three weeks before I decided to do a blackout and all of my coral was fine, but I wasn't doing much to take action. A few days ago I decided to start taking action with a three day blackout which resulted in half of my frogspawn either dying or not opening up from the blackout period. Is this normal? All of my other coral including acros and torches are fine except this one. Will it open up again in a few days or is it a goner? I have no idea what caused this. The only time I ever lost a coral was once almost a year ago. It's strange because half of the frogspawn is open, but now I'm worried that it's going to completely die. I've had this frogspawn for months and it grew quite a bit. I also still have the dinos and ordered dr tims waste away and a small uv sterilizer

Blackouts are useless unless you correct the underlying problem.

Phosphates are undetectable. I'm trying to feed more to get them back up

i hate bubble algae so much
especially in smaller tanks when the crabs won’t get to it
i took down a tank at one point (mostly) there was still a gallon or two of water and sand for the better part of 7-8 months and there bubble algae in there despite no lights and no water movement did not die and looked healthy
which is lame & you could dry liquid foods to get nutrients up a little if you haven’t already

I would dose phosphates if you have dinos

Before you start buying things to get rid of your dinoflagellates, you need to find out what kind you have. Not all dinos are killed by uv. Join Macks Reef Dinoflagellate group on facebook. Blackouts NEVER work. Some dinos secrete poison.

A 3 day blackout on its own will not kill a coral. Something else going on as well.

I'll have to order a microscope. Unfortunately the frogspawn is completely dead by now. Most other coral is fine but some zoas aren't opening. I noticed some snail deaths so I definitely think these are toxic dinos. I ordered a UV sterilizer that got delayed in the mail. Started dosing bacteria and will soon be getting silicates in the mail to dose. I've been holding off on water changes to let my nitrates and phosphates rise but have a little but of activated carbon in to avoid whatever toxin is being let out

I did a 3 day blackout too and added 10 litres of pods but I think what did it was on my icp it showed sicates at 300 and I had diatoms
Don’t have a uv but run ozone
