Hello, R2R members, i'm really struggling with trying to find my motivation again for my reef tanks. I have a jbj 28 gallon cube, and a IM 30L and i really am struggling with trying to find my motivation and my love for the reefing hobby. I always think getting a new bigger tank will help, but i'm not sure. Also financially it's sort of not in a great place. I did a water change yesterday and i was really proud of it. I went through some really bad mental battles, and then velvet went through my tank killing everything but my goby and shrimp pair and thats what made me lose motivation. (Percautions were taken to rid the parasite from my tank) is there any advice you people have to help a fellow reefer try to find his motivation again for the love of the beautiful hobby? Thanks for your help!

Welcome to R2R! Most of us have been through a tank wipe out, usually caused by velvet, etc. Devastating feeling. But you've got a couple of survivors :) That's a great place to start slowly rebuilding. Is your tank a fish/invert only or do you have some corals going as well?

It has a few anemones that were huge and beautiful and a couple clowns that I got at a local reef show. And some Kenya tree and the gobi shrimp pair. And hair algae and coralline algae stuck to the glass and rocks.

Welcome. I look at pictures of other peoples works of art and beautiful tanks for inspiration. If that isn't enough I'll get Netflix or amazon tv up and on some reef documentaries. Sorry for your losses. I'm looking at my barren white rock new build right now, wondering how it will look in a year. If you need a break, take one and keep the tank chores simple.
