Finally got myself some little crabs a few red legged crabs and blue legged crabs i already have a pom pom crab but as I had the lid on half way my second fish my firefish hopped out and I was doing a water change and acclimated my few inverts and I guess he got spooked and hoped out lost my second fish pretty sad kinda sucks my watchmen and him were pretty good friends. I tried looking in the hole and didn't see him and I was like idk where he could have went and I looked down behind the tank and he was crisp all dried out but didn't hear anything but I was in and out of the room kinda bummer don't know if I should get another one or maybe a red and green clown goby they look pretty cool. But want to get another little guy so he isn't just by himself.

Firefish, dartfish (etc.) are all known jumpers. So if you do you have to keep an eye on them 24/7 whenever the lid is off.
I did remember reading that when I first read about them but I really didn't think anything of it unfortunately I thought he would have been hiding under the rock with my gobby kinda sucks though was a pretty cool fish.

fish are nightmares with jumping and if they jump you have to get them back into the tank ASAP. I have a tilefish that has jumped twice and I have a lid but both times he was doing a houdini and managed to slip out whilst the kid was off. You really have to watch these animals without a lid on. Anything from gobiidae is a risk with jumping (Firefish, Gobies, Dartfish ect).

Well deffinatly good to know! My watchmen gobby did a lil jump the first day I put my fire fish in there but thankfully it was only on a little adventure to the back chamber and not out of my tank been scared since but completely blanked that my fire fish would jump but I know they do just any time I did anything with the tank he always hid so I figured he was hiding now debating what to get now another firefish or something else.

If you’re interested in different gobies and there habitat I did a thread about it called “Gobiidae… One of the commonly seen families get one of the most intricate” or something like that. It basically goes through many common gobies and their habitats aswell as why the gobies and similar fish jump.

Okay thanks I'll check it out!
