Unfortunately i didn't take any pic.. but it suddenly looked stressed and wasn't swimming and eating normally. It all happened too fast. Here is a glimpse of it packing on stones a week ago.

Filtration type: AIO
Lighting: Nemolight
How long has the aquarium been established: about 2 years

Temperature: 26°c
pH: 8.2
Salinity / specific gravity: 1.026
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 5.0
Phosphate: 0.25

Calcium: over 550ppm
Phosphorus: Not testing

Thanks, but as you likely already know, all your data seems fine. The only hint that I have is that in the picture you posted, the fish seems emaciated. Taking that forward a week, it might have been even thinner. Malabsorption can occur with fish for a variety of reasons, and eventually, the fish uses its liver for energy and then dies from liver damage. I can't tell you for sure if that happened here, but the thin look of the fish points to that. Malabsorption can be from the fish being collected with cyanide (would only be the case if you owned the fish for less than two months) or internal parasites (competing with the food you were feeding) or simply not enough food being fed. I know a lot of reef aquarists who restrict their food too much in order to limit nutrients and to force the tang to feed more on algae - sometimes they go too far and the fish starves.

Thank you very much Jay, some of the points you sighted in your assessment are true in my case... i bought this tang about a month ago. It was much thinner closer to its last few days. What i also noticed were a lot white spots all over the tang.. and that was the reason i decided to dip it.
