Lost my misbar clown

Has anyone had issues with their fish jumping out of their tank? I woke up this morning and could not find one of my clowns and after looling for a while i found it outside on the floor behind the tank..

Yes. Any fish will jump, though there are some that are known for it. A good screen or mesh top is ideal for just this reason. Look at BRS for their screen top or go to Home Depot and get a window screen kit. You can custom make either of these to fit your tank and around any equipment you might have hanging off the back or sides. Sorry for your loss.

This also happened to me this week. So very sad. My firefish jumped out and I found him on the floor Although they are infamous jumpers, I foolishly thought the height of my tank would mitigate the risk.

BRS does indeed sell affordable 1/4" screening, they also sell kits for a bit more than they should. I found some 'Plastic Chicken Wire' locally and will just fashion my own.

Very sad. Sorry for your loss too. I didnt even know clownfish could jump. I guess lesson learned i was going to ask. What about a glass top? I dont see alot of people using these. Why is that?

Main reason; unless you clean a glass top constantly, it will quickly degrade how much light is making it to your corals.
