I got a few hammers from ReefAPalooza Chicago. I got 3 from one vendor. I got a splatter, gold and a orange hammer.

I put them in my tank on the frag rack to let them get use to my tank. Left them there till yesterday.

I thought it was ok to move all the frags o got from ReefAPalooza now they had plenty of time to acclamate to my tank. However I found the orange hammer really running looking them inspected it. It looked like the base was super glued together. Well after looking at it out of the tank it was!!! I guess it moved and after putting it in the spot the glue I guess shifted which let water in to the frag.

I have never seen this before. Seems shady to not tell me when I got it. Guess lesson learned.

While I totally get why your upset (vendor should have disclosed that the head had been broken), there is a very good chance that the hammer will pull through. It looks like there are still polyps in the two pieces of the head. If it were me, I would loosely put them together and put a bit of epoxy around to hold it together. And then put it back on the rack in an area that flow is not too crazy. You’d be surprised to see that it just might pull through.

I had similar things happen to me on a couple of torch’s I purchase. Trying to get them off the plug, I actually smashed the head and thankfully the torch pulled through on both occasions.

I just would of liked to been told he glued it. I'm mad but kinda like hell with it lesson learned. I'll inspect them before buying next time.
