Hi all, in the last week I have lost my only lps and sps in my tank. The torch anfrogspawn just receeded and disappeared after about five days. The monti completely bleached out with in five days after I accidentally broke it in half. I have checked my phosphates, calcium and magnesium. Phosphate is at 1200ppm, the calcium is at about 420. The magnesium however is off the scale at 1600 and above. I don’t know why this might be. Any ideas please? Cheers, Steve

Calcium looks fine, and high magnesium shouldn't bother anything. What are there rest of your parameters? Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate. And what lighting do you have them under and what does your schedule look like? Also what kind of flow do you have in the tank? Did you make any changes or add anything to the tank recently that may have brought something in to upset everything else?

How old is you tank? Parameter?

Thanks for answering. The tank is four months old and doing ok. Nitrate sits at between 2.5 and 5 but I do feed heavily I think. Kh is 12.6 phos is 0.12 ph floats between 8 and 8.2. Stocked with soft corals, a gorgonian, and a bubble tip which split last week. Got a pair of blue cheeked gobies, a pair of clowns, pair of fire fish, three antheas, a copper band, a yellow tang, a box fish and a watchman goby/pistol shrimp. Flow is two Jecod sw 4’s running at about 30 percent. Lighting is a mystery to me. It’s running at uv, v, ry and blue at 115 percent, green and red at 5 percent and white at 46 percent. They are at this intensity for eight hours with a two hour ramp time either side. The lights are the ai26’s x 2. The tank is a Red Sea reefer xl 425. In the sump I’m running a quantum skimmer, an alr1 with a big block of filter brick (can’t remember what it was called) and I’ve recently chucked some K1 Filter media in the return chamber that I had hanging around from my pond. Everything else in the tank is fine. Thanks again, Steve

Where did you place the monti and frogspawn can also be the key problem, to much or not enough light. Also the Kh 12.6 í a bit high. I dont know if you intended to keep it that high. 12 is still okay but I think 12.6 is a bit too high

Did you say Phosphates are at 1200 or 1.2? How old is your tank??
For torch and frogspawn check for flow, they prefer low flow and light for acclimation.
If all your nutrients are in check, corals should show signs of progress.
