Metal Halide's were so much easier, turn it on and off you go.

Left the hobby when LED's were just getting popular. Just jumped back in head first with the Red Sea Reefer 250 (deluxe).

So it came with these two Hydra 26 HD's, and overall the lights are pretty awesome, and pretty dang powerful.

The tank measures 36 across, 20 deep, 21 tall. The lights are 9.5-10 inches off the surface.

Goal is to run a mixed reef, mostly LPS, and SPS. With a nice gradual ramp up and down with a portion of "actinic" on both ends.

I tried the David Saxby settings and they are much too high, even with having them cut by 50%

I don't have much in the tank right now but I know I'm frying my torch and frogspawn with these settings, I contacted Red Sea and they sent me their "reef spec" settings and those are very basic.

I doubt most things in life, what I never doubt is the creativity of reefers.

Please help!

Here's my lights I run for 8 hours 1:30-910 or so. Recently turned greens down, I have sps, lps, softies

Anyone else care to share their setups? Of list a site which we can download different presets to test?

I'm not on my wifi network right now, so I can't get a screenshot but I'll type them out. Keep in mind mine is a Prime HD fixture (same software, also made by AI) and it's over a 12 gallon.

UV: 25%
B/RB/UV: 40%
G/R: 8%
CW: 15%

I have 4.5 hour ramp times with 2 hours at peak output.

These are my acclimation settings. I'm sharing them because this ratio of percentages creates a great color IMO. Also to prevent burning corals, start out with lower percentages like me, and increase them by about 5% every week until they're at your desired level,

Hello i am looking for help as well also have a mixed reef

I run 2 AI Hydra 52HD's over a 65 gallon display and I run the Modified version of the Ecotech SPS AB+ program at 90% Intensity and I love it. I do have a SPS dom tank though. I cant seem to figure out how to load my AIP File into this thread though....

I as well run a modified AB+ program and I am love with the colors and effects it has on my corals!

the David Saxby schedule looks great, however his tank crazy deep. sticking with my original schedule (above)

What are you using for your light settings? Bought same tank and lights

Got my hands on a par meter, and after extensive research im finally getting somewhere with understanding these lights.

Now I still don't know if what im doing is the "best" thing for the tank, but I haven't lost color, or life on anything since.

I really do wish we had more guidance from AI on this. Ecotech has done such a good job with educating their customers.

Regardless, I did a review and a couple of bench mark par readings.

You can watch it here:
If anyone has any more questions feel free to drop em here or on the vid. Hopefully with the amount of reading ive done since posting this thread will help some of us.

Looks good how long have you been running at that program?

So what percentage and schedule did you choose to go with?

If you go to the AI Website
You can download signature preset settings that are plug and play with lights.
There are a lot to choose from, each person that had a signature setting runs a specific tank, sps dominant, lps only, mixed reef.
choose one that you like.
Just be aware youll have to use the acclimation setting to ease them into to the new intensities.
best part is you can tweek the pre sets aswell.
