Loud as Heck Air Pump

Title says it all. I'm forced to run an air pump for at least a week until some new equipment arrives. It's loud as hell, I think due to the acoustics of the room. Any tips on keeping this sucker quiet?

Place it above the water level, Check.
Place it on a solid surface, Check
Put something like a folded towel or sponge underneath, Check

Any other tips or recommendations to try and keep it quiet, short of, "Buy a new one"?

The only sure way to quieten an air pump is with a hammer. Much better off with a wave maker or power head pointed at the surface. You could always buy a piston air pump and then you’ll be amazed at how quiet your membrane air pump is lol
