Loud overflow, thinking of changing things, could use some advice.

It looks like the overflow pipe thingy IS adjustable, but it's too late and I can't try adjusting it since I cut out all the plumbing last night so I could clean it up and start over, probably just going to Herbie the internal overflow box with the two holes that are already drilled in the bottom and put the return over the top. May not look as clean with the over the top return, but I don't really think it matters. I also like the idea of the over the top return as I can more easily move and position the return pump when I need to...

I did the return today, over the top, simple, no loc line because I don't like loc line, put a siphon break in there, it actually looks better than I thought it would....
