There is what I think to be a loud splash in my overflow. How can I quiet it down?

Is the splashing coming from the pipe, or the water falling into the overflow chamber

Water flowing into the overflow chamber.
Likely would need a longer pipe to raise the water level so the water doesnt have to fall as much.

Agreed. Water level in the overflow should be just below the weir/teeth.

What size and brand tank?
I have a 60 cube with same overflow
There should be a adjustable weir piece on inside of overflow I had to play around with it so water would spill over to back of the insert overflow that will quieting it down

Do you have a pic of it. I have an aquarium masters 45 gal 36x24x12 frag tank thats not set up yet. I just looked and there are 2 plastic screws in the back of the overflow. It did not come with the part I think you are talking about.
I wil have to go to lfs and see what they say.
Hete is a pic.

Yea the 2 screws is where it attaches
It will have adjustment slots to move up and down

Kind of hard to make out but there’s about 1/2 inch gap between it an overflow

Thanks just sent them an email. I will go to lfs tomorrow. They will get it for me. Never had this style but I can see how it is used for water level. Tanks not up yet so plenty of time. Thanks again.

Thank you guys. I located that piece you’ll are talking about. I installed it and I do notice a difference. I still hear a little bit of a splash and wonder if I can add some sort of sponge. What do you think?

Probably adjust your flow a little till you hit right level is what I did
Won’t be completely quiet but will help
Once it runs a while an gets algae growing on it like mine it gets quieter
Now I can adjust more flow
