Loud Overflows

What is the best way to quiet the overflows?
I have 2 in my tank and just ramped up my Cor-20 to 43% and they are getting loud and the water level is going up and down in them.
They are basically both durso standpipe setup overflows, one is this aqueon mega flow kit and the other is DIY Durso.

Do you think if I go full open overflows I can push more water through them?

I drilled a hole in the top of mine and put a 3/8" soft hose in it and it dramatically quieted down.
